Jean Acevedo, LHRM, CPC, CHC, CENTC
Jean is a Certified Professional Coder, Certified in Healthcare Compliance and a health care risk manager with 30 years of health care experience spanning from hospital to home health and hospice to physician practice management. She has a particular expertise in coding, chart audits & documentation, and compliance and has been an expert witness in civil litigation as well as Federal fraud cases. She is a frequently sought after speaker as she combines a wealth of industry knowledge with a charismatic presentation style.
Jean was the 2002 and 2005 President of the Palm Beach County chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders, and is a member of ASHRM, AHIMA, the Florida Medical Auditors Association, and the Health Care Compliance Association.
Jean is a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of Medical Office Billing and Collection Alert, Physical Therapy & Rehab Alert, and Internal Medicine Coding Alert, national newsletters published by The Coding Institute.

Christopher Acevedo, CHC, CPC
Chris is both a Certified Professional Coder and Certified in Healthcare Compliance. As a Senior Consultant he has a particular expertise in chart audits, compliance and education and frequently lectures to the physician community on coding/compliance. Christopher's coding expertise has been invaluable to the firm's clients in successfully assisting with third-party payer "alleged" overpayments. Chris has a wealth of expertise guiding physicians, non-physician practitioners and executive staff through the maze of Medicare coverage and reimbursement issues, developing and implementing compliance plans, and providing in-house education and consultative services on Medicare and coding-related concerns in a manner that is practical yet risk averse.
Chris is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association, the Florida Medical Auditors Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. He is an Adjunct Faculty member at Florida Atlantic University – lecturing on the History of Healthcare in the US & the role of Compliance in Healthcare and serves as a member of the Business Partner Ship Council for Palm Beach State College. As a certified CPC and CHC, Chris combines the unique perspective of avoiding physician risk and liability with opportunities for optimizing reimbursement.

| Meredith L. Hughes, CPC, CHC
Meredith is a Certified Professional Coder and is Certified in Healthcare Compliance. She joined Acevedo Consulting from the nonprofit sector in 2008 and has quickly become an expert in the Medicare Enrollment Process, helping countless clients through a myriad of Medicare credentialing issues. As the former Director of Development for a county wide nonprofit organization, Meredith understands all too well the significance of securing a business’ financial stability.
She has worked for two local nonprofit health systems in the areas of management consulting and patient advocacy, where she was an integral member of the ethics committee, participating in several controversial cases. Through her experience, she has gained a unique understanding of our health care system and the many ongoing challenges presented to providers, patients and payers.
Meredith received her Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida. She is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders, the Health Care Compliance Association and the South Florida Chapter of the Medical Group Managers Association.
