Perform professional compliance and auditing work. Work involves conducting coding and compliance audits. Determine whether services ordered and/or provided by physicians/non-physician practitioners and rendered to patients are accurately billed and supported by documentation in the clinical record. Maintain all organizational and professional ethical standards. Work under limited supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Review documents, compose summary memos and prepare working papers. Identify, develop and document audit issues and recommendations using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed. Assist in communicating the results of audit and consulting projects via professionally written reports. Be able to maintain the attorney client privilege doctrine as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of data and information. This position may require evening and weekend hours.
Qualified candidates must possess either a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician) designation. CPMA and CHC is desired and a plus. Must have an understanding of physician and other “Part B” professional billing, regulatory compliance, litigation support and/or internal auditing. Current working knowledge of billing requirements, including but not limited to procedural and diagnostic coding, required. Minimum of three years of Evaluation and Management (E&M) coding and auditing experience is required with demonstrated proficiency. Proficiency in ICD-10-CM also required.
